Drying of Biomass

Biomass, such as wood chips, forest residues, bark, sawdust, corn stover, bagasse, solid digestate, lignin, paper sludge and peat, typically contain high amounts of moisture. Moisture makes biomass expensive to transport, difficult to store and reduces its thermal value.

Solutions include the disc drier system featuring efficient heat transfer and optionally an integrated waste heat recovery system used for the production of district heating. Disc dryer systems can recover up to 80 % of the energy input. Indirect heating of the dryer eliminates the risk of fire and explosion thus making the system very safe.
