Compact Coagulator, type WHCC |
 | | |
| | The Haarslev model WHCC Waste Heat Compact Coagulator is a horizontal, self-cleaning, heat exchanger designed to coagulate (cook) proteins in e.g. fish and animal based raw materials.

Operation The product being processed, whether viscous, sticky, or slurry, should be of a consistency enabling it to be pumped into the coagulator. The mass travels continuously through the serially connected cooking tubes where it is agitated by the rotating scrapers and heated to the required temperature. Due to the relatively small product volume of the product tubes, product retention time in the cooker is short compared to traditional screw type coagulators (cookers). The result is a homogeneously coagulated (cooked) product with very short exposure to high cooking temperatures.
Advantages Compared with traditional screw type coagulators (cookers), the WHCC Waste Heat Compact Coagulator provides several unique advantages: -
Optimal thermal efficiency -
Short retention time due to rapid product heating -
Self cleaning scrapers eliminate protein scaling on the heating surface -
Compact design, saving floor space -
Easily disassembled for inspection and maintenance -
Low power consumption -
Can utilize process vapour (waste heat) as heat source (final product tube may require high pressure steam).
